How to Start Using Images of Yourself to Start Marketing Your Online Realtor Business

As a realtor, you have likely grown to understand the importance of building relationships as part of your marketing strategy. Realtors are getting most of their leads through word of mouth and referrals, but as the world is changing, so too should your marketing strategy.

Ever since the pandemic hit the world, there has been a mass movement into the online space, and making an effort to build relationships with social media is more important than ever. One of the best ways to build those relationships online is by showing up consistently and showing your face through headshots and images.

It's a matter of know, like, and trust. People who see you show up will remember you when one of their friends needs a realtor, and to be able to show up you need to have more imagery with you in it.

Now, getting your picture taken may not be at the top of your list of fun things to do, but when you see the return that is possible by making it part of your marketing strategy, it is well worth it.

Here are some great ideas for images that you can use to help market your realtor business.

  1. The about me shot -  You've got to have your standard headshot to post across platforms in the profile section.  This is an absolute must have.  With a shot like this it's best to come across as professional, and approachable.  You want people to see you as the expert, but still feel comfortable reaching out to you for help with their homes.
  1. On the job - I would say that the bulk of your imagery should be you working or existing in a home that is on the higher end of the types of homes that you would like to sell or work with. These images will help to pair with most of the things that you would post on your social media platforms and give you assets to also use on your website as well.  People will immediately be able to see what type of work you do. Getting access to homes can be tricky, but you can always ask for permission from your clients, family and friends to do a shoot in a relevant home for an hour. Most people are flattered to be asked.
  1. The lifestyle shot - This is the shot of you walking around your city or town in places that people know and recognize.  If you want to be the go-to person for your area, make sure that people know where you work with your lifestyle images.  These can also be easy to post on social media alongside information about your area.
  1. The celebratory shot - When you've got a house that's sold and you want to show the world what you've been up to, having a celebratory shot can go a long way.  This can be you popping champagne or holding up a "sold" sign. These can help to build trust and show that you're doing the work as well as show off your personality. If you’ve got any kind of education or courses online these images can be wonderful to use when someone opts in or signs up.

Once you've got these images in your back pocket, you can do all kinds of marketing online, and start showing up for the people searching in your area.  It's one of the best ways to start building those relationships now.
